Background Information
Launched on August 1, 2007, the door64.com social network aims to serve the Central Texas *high-tech population by enabling our local professionals to:
(a) expand their peer networks via online and face-to-face networking,
(b) discover opportunities for professional development via a member-maintained calendar of local tech conferences, seminars, clubs, user groups, and networking events,
(c) learn of local high-tech employment opportunities, and post their skill sets for possible contract, consulting, or full-time engagements.
An associated LinkedIn Group High-Tech Austin, TX allows group members to find each other via the LinkedIn.com network.
* By high-tech population, we are referring to local professionals in the semiconductor, hardware, software, and IT fields.
Note: I actively restrict the door64.com community to those who work in high-tech, and reside in Central Texas. The value of this online and face-to-face community is rooted in each member, and his/her ability to network with other local professionals of similar background and technical interests.
Relevant Statistics for Advertisers and Sponsors
* As of 06-Mar-2008, door64.com has a membership of over 1100 users. Predominantly our member base consists of high-technology professionals in the Austin area, while a much smaller portion resides in the San Antonio metro area.
* The main sections of door64.com are: discussion forums, member blogs, event calendar, jobs, member skill sets, and links (to local groups and clubs relevant to high-tech and/or networking).
* A hand-written newsletter is e-mailed weekly to the community that alerts members to upcoming events, as well as active forum discussions, and new job opportunities & member skill sets.
* During the three month period between 28-Oct-2007 through 28-Jan-2008, the door64.com website experienced 6901 visits, and 36,500 page views (excluding administrative access). That is an average of 75 visits per day, and ~396 page views per day.
* door64.com is an open social network, such that all sections (excluding member profiles) are unrestricted to anonymous users. Site registration is required to create any content on the site, but aside from member profiles all pages are viewable. door64.com registration is free, as is the posting of any site content.
* Our first face-to-face networking event occurred in late September 2007, with an attendance of ~60 local tech professionals. For our second networking event in late October 2007 (teaming with GeekAustin.org), we had a turnout of ~170 local tech professionals. The third door64.com networking event in January 2008 attracted ~400 local tech professionals. A short video of this most recent event can be found here.
* The home page of door64.com receives the most traffic, given this page summarizes much of what the site contains (new jobs, new events, new discussion forum topics & comments, new blog posts, site news, news feed summaries). We have a wide banner advertising location available at the top of the home page. Additional places for advertising may be created as necessary. There is administrative visibility into the number of views and click-thrus for each advertisement. Potential advertisements may involve promotion of a company presence in Central Texas, or promotion and link to employment opportunities of a Central Texas company or firm.
Ways to advertise or sponsor?
There are a variety of ways an appropriate advertiser may wish to promote their company or firm. Note that all advertisers and advertisements are subject to approval, based upon their relevance to this technology-oriented social network.
- Banner advertising
- For relevant companies or firms, front-page advertising is available. Email to discuss further.
- Newsletter sponsorship
- Each week, a newsletter is emailed to all subscribed door64.com members, alerting the community to upcoming events, new job opportunities, and hot topics in the forums & blogs. A relevant company or firm may sponsor/co-sponsor this newsletter for one week for $500. The company name, link, and short company description will be appended to the newsletter. Currently, the subscribed members who receive this newsletter number over 1600.
- Featured job opportunities
- The Job Postings (All) page is the second most popular content page viewed on door64.com. New Central Texas high-tech job opportunities are posted almost daily.
It is free for door64.com members to post their Central Texas technology job opportunities. If you want to make sure your job is seen at the top of this page (highlighted with the job title sized up, and with trimmed job description text appended), the cost is $100 per job posting for a 1 week span. This includes the job opportunity being designated as top-list featured in the door64 weekly newsletter.
- Sponsorship of door64 Austin LinkedIn Happy Hour networking events
- Our happy hour networking events have become extremely popular within the Central Texas tech community. Each event has grown larger than the previous. At the time of writing, the upcoming event on March 27th is expected to see over 500 attendees. Sponsorship involves one or more companies/firms covering costs of the venue, food, drinks, door prizes, and welcome table. Sponsors are advertised as such wherever possible in all publicizing leading up to the event, and sponsors are given a table at the event to disseminate promotional material to attendees.
In addition, event supporters may sign-up for a table at the networking happy hour events to disseminate promotional materials, at the cost of $500 per event.
Note that door64 cannot process payment for your attendees. However, we can post a link for attendees to submit their payment on the website(s) of your choice. Alternately you can follow-up via email to process payment.
