Opportunity FOUND

Well, it happened on the last day of the year. I was in talks with a company in Scottsdale through the holiday and finally accepted their offer on the 31st. And although most of my effort was focused on the Austin area, I'm more than happy to move west instead of east.

Thanks to those who held out a helping hand. It was partly because of this community that I had looked so hard in Austin. You are a great group of folks.

One of the things I did for the job search was to put together a website to help in my search. (Un?)Fortunately, I wasn't able to utilize this tool. However, for those still looking and desiring to build a site of your own, here's the link to help you think through what you want. I'm also accepting comments on the site to make it better. You can see it at www.kevindevries.com.

Thanks again for your "hospitality".

Congrats, Kevin! And you

Congrats, Kevin! And you did an excellent job with your website. I think that's a great model for others who are thinking about doing the same.

Congrats, Kevin! Although

Congrats, Kevin! Although Scottsdale is quite different from here I think you will come to enjoy it. I actually spent a little over 3 years there until the closing of the DHL data center in Scottsdale. I actually relocated here to Austin to be closer to family and because the job market looked better here, but still find myself looking for my next challenge. Be prepared for a bit of 'sticker shock' if you are planning to purchase a home there. The areas of North Phoenix just to the west of Scottsdale are a nice alternative. Also there are some nice areas in Tempe just to the south. Also be sure to visit Sedona just a little more than an hours drive north of the Phoenix area. Flagstaff, sitting at an elevation of 7,000 ft above sea level, is nice as well and offers an escape from the summer heat.
