Chocolate Blues and Business

I went to the Chocolate Blues and Business networking event today. There was not enough to keep me there for six hours, but while I was there, I did meet several people and got some ideas on companies to pursue.

I also spoke with my friend Jozef, and got many ideas about how to approach my job search. One suggestion was to write a blog. I have been trying to do that daily, and not just tweet about all my daily activities.

I also heard an "elevator-speech" amount of great information from Jeff Klein about how to improve my elevator speech.

And, of course, I overindulged on chocolates -- both the good stuff and mini Twix bars!

Who else went? What were your thoughts?

Whoh, what was this? I never heard of this event. "Chocolate" got my immediate attention :)

What was the purpose of the event?

It wasn't advertised to the general public. I heard about it at the last minute when a colleague who had set up a booth sent me an invitation.

The event was billed as a "fun" networking event. It was at the Norris Convention Center. There were several vendors there, and a lot of opportunity to stand and chat. There were some speed networking sessions, organized by Jeff Klein. And there was chocolate all over the place!

The website is http://www.chocolatebluesandbusiness.com/. This was their first time in Austin. Shelly Rice is the organizer; she runs these events all over the country.

Even though the event is over, the vendors have links on the website. They have a lot of good information; I especially got some good advice from Jeff Klein (www.Jeffs30seconds.com) about polishing my elevator speech.

Shelly said we should connect through LinkedIn; I'm sure if you do and tell about yourself and door64, she'll keep you up to date on upcoming events.
