The morning after the Elections

First, congratulations to all who voted for, and condolences to all who voted against, the new President-Elect. You both wished well.

However, the last election season has been a great return to democracy in a country that was running scared and losing its spirit for the last few years.

Both McCain and Obama were unexpected winners of a busy primary season full of very strong candidates. Neither candidate fits the popular stereotype for a presidential hopeful - family in the business, party darling, picture-perfect family man.

The election campaigns stirred more people, caused more emotions and generated more controversy when usual, and caused some genuine debate - including some on TV.

The new President-Elect has been selected with a bang - and a well-earned first day approval rating of 52% (popular vote).
