Web 2.0 Revolution

Recently, as Matt commented posting the door64 Manifesto:

The revolution will not be televised.
The revolution will be blogged, tweeted, and instant messaged.
The revolution will be live.

I think that the point is that alot of the Web 2.0 applications are being adapted to enable the distribution of information globally:

"...A recent article in the Economist highlighted the way in which the anarchist movement driving the riots within Greece has been able to connect internationally using the technology tools we are increasingly familiar with, YouTube (150,000 views), Blogs and Facebook. Facebook in particular appears to be the protest connection venue of choice, for a variety of movements from Egypt to Greece. The behavioral socio-political data that is present within the architecture of the Facebook site would provide keen insight into this developing opposition phenomena if examined and exploited. The new kids on the block are also represented by Twitter (through the #griot descriptor) and Second Life. This global connectivity produced a global reaction with protests appearing in a variety of other countries. While Facebook and Twitter are currently gathering the majority of the attention, arguably the seeds of better future information portals are to be found in Second Life..."

Further evidence of this trend is found in the fact that the Israel-Gaza Conflict Spills Over Into Twitter

The evolution is happening in real time. As a non-tweeter, I marvel at how quickly the use of Twitter has adapted. It is happening as we Twitter, worldwide...sometimes, perhaps with what some would call, unintended consequences. This is one trend that cannot be ignored.

And consider the advent of Web 3.0. What will it be, and who will develop it?

The Semantic web is 3.0

The Semantic web is 3.0 isn't it? I should have known that! Sometimes I don't think.

We'll be doing this with the

We'll be doing this with the Global Game Jam - ustream.tv, Skype, and Twitter feeds are likely, plus normal TV and newspaper coverage, and blogs.

Possibly oldschool IRC too, but we'll see.
