· 6:30 – 6: 45 Welcome, introductions, announcements, possible speakers, calendar for meetings

· 6:45 – 7:00 Group introductions. 60 seconds highlight about yourself and your interest. Feel free to bring business cards and brochures to share.

· 7:00 – 8:15 Guest Speaker – Dr. Ram K. Matta. Dr. Matta will present a tutorial on how to get started on a business plan

· 8:15 - 8:30 Your one question / Your need

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Matta brings 30 years experience with General Electric and with high tech start-ups as a Corporate Leader and General Manager. He has been responsible for strategy, product design and new product introduction at Aircraft Engines and Power Systems. At the GE Corporate Research and Development Center, Dr. Matta worked with Jack Welch and his staff to drive strategic initiatives and best practices across business lines. Dr. Matta took early retirement from GE to focus on his family and on his passion for teaching.

Dr. Matta is the Executive in Residence at the School of Management and Business, St. Edward’s University, and teaches business planning, managing change and global project management to MBA students. Dr. Matta is on the Board of Directors of TIE Austin. TIE is a global non-profit organization dedicated to giving back to the community and promoting entrepreneurship. He is mentoring and advising several startup companies in Austin.

Dr. Matta has a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Delhi, a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and an Executive MBA from Stanford University.

Mission:

· Provide a community of learning, discussion, collaboration, support and talent for entrepreneurs starting and growing businesses.

· Allow local entrepreneurs to improve, clarify and realize their business dreams and goals while helping their neighbors.

· Encourage local economic development that creates stable, local jobs.

Format: Grass roots effort to have informal discussions to bring entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs together to learn from each other, build synergy and increase each others potential to succeed.

Audience:

Anyone interested in starting a business.
Anyone needing help with their existing business.
Anyone with experience starting, owning/operating a business and willing to mentor others.
Anyone willing to work for a small business (to learn, partnering, possible pay).
Anyone interested in funding small businesses.
