For our next Solar Austin Happy Hour on February 17th, we're pleased to present our featured speaker, Lanny Sinkin, Executive Director of Solar San Antonio.
Solar San Antonio is a non-profit, advocacy and resource center for renewable and sustainable energy applications. Utilizing community education and outreach, they strive to decrease energy costs and improve the quality of life in San Antonio and South Texas. By providing leadership in renewable energy, they're able to offer information and networking opportunities to the public, to public officials and to the business community. Their programs and events bring these interests together creating a context to share what's happening in solar and why it's important to the future of the community.

Solar in San Antonio… A Bright Horizon
Mr. Sinkin will provide an overview of the current state of the solar industry in San Antonio and the plans Solar San Antonio has to significantly expand solar capacity in San Antonio in 2010.
Bio:
Lanny Sinkin is currently the Executive Director of Solar San Antonio. Mr. Sinkin's vast experience and many accomplishments include:
• Served as Executive Director of the Urban Coalition of Metropolitan San Antonio in the early 1970s
• Served as full time volunteer for the Aquifer Protection Association in the mid-1970s
• Co-founded Citizens Against Nuclear Power in San Antonio in the mid-1970s and represented that group for almost ten years in Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensing hearings for the South Texas Nuclear Project, Units 1 and 2
• Co-founded a spiritual center in Hilo, Hawai'i that operated for three years serving teachers and healers from all over the world
• Co-founded Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary which provides a safe haven for hundreds of homeless dogs and cats on the Island of Hawai'i and served for seven years as a full time caretaker at the Sanctuary.
Mr. Sinkin grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Harvard College and the University of Texas School of Law.
