Virtualization and private clouds show great promise for server consolidations and infrastructure reductions, but these complex environments can be difficult to deploy and manage. This talk will discuss the deployment and management issues in today’s clusters, including Clouds with a focus on the constraints and technologies used to predict when Virtual Machines need to move or resize in order to adjust to changing workload growth, hardware upgrades or constraint changes.

Dr. Lehr is currently working at CA Technologies on automating the creating of models used in CA prediction technologies such as VPM. This includes studying the sensitivity of CA models, rapid interpretation of trends in data and intelligent, automated retrieval of model configuration information from the Web. In his career he has had various roles as support, quality and performance analysis engineers as well as a 10 year stint in management of development teams, giving him multiple views into the product development and support process.
Dr. Lehr has a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University, has seven patents and has written over 20 academic and industrial papers.
