The housing market is such a barometer for what happens in our local economy. Regardless of your business, that's why it's important to know the state of the housing market and where it's heading.
Our November speaker is Socar Chatmon-Thomas, Chairman of the Austin Board of Realtors. She will update us on the current state of the real estate market and gaze into her crystal ball on the future.
Socar is a Realtor with Coldwell Banker and began her real estate career in December of 1993. She has been involved at many levels in leadership of the Realtors' professional association. She earned her B.S. in engineering from Rice University and holds GRI, CRS, ABR, CRP, and At Home with Diversity designations and is currently working on her CCIM. On a personal level she's been married 14 years to Martin and is the mother of two fabulous young ladies, Guinevere (10) and Isabella (7). In her spare time, she also volunteers as a Mentor at Matthews Elementary, sings in her church choir, assists with her daughters Girl Scout Troop #1043, and is on the Board of several area non-profits: the Ballet Austin Guild, the Austin Area Heritage Council, Foundation Communities, and The Trinity Center.
