The Bootstrap Community Subgroup is for Bootstrappers who want to discuss best practices for instigating and managing communities that are relevant to their businesses, organizations, or affinities - and to hear what's worked for others. Don't miss our first official meeting February 25th. If you're not already a member, we have a Google Group at http://groups.google.com/group/bootstrap-community (where you'll find pages of notes Bijoy Goswami and I created as background for our community presentation).

This subgroup is about creating effective groups that have affinity, provide a context for ongoing relationships, and share history over time. Communities will form where people find common interest and venue. You don't necessarily create a community - rather, you build a platform for community and nurture it into being. In our talk about bootstrapping community, Bijoy and I have suggested how to evolve a community strategy based on principles we've learned building the Bootstrap Network: understanding the relevance of core energies (maven/relater/evangelist), developing protocols, using systems/technologies to support community interaction, and bootstrapping through stages of development. Aligning community development with Bootstrap methodology will be one focus of our discussions.
