VoCamp and Semantic Web in Drupal
Hopefully most of you have seen Tim Berners-Lee TED talk on the next web of open linked data (http://blog.ted.com/2009/03/tim_berners_lee_web.php) The objective of Linked Data, Web of Data and Semantic Web is to not only publish your documents on the web, but publishing raw data. People are starting to do this by APIs, but imagine a web of open data where the data is linked! One of the issues is the need to have a vocabulary that represents the data you want to publish. In past VoCamps, participants have created vocabularies to describe Whiskey all the way to Aliens. So if you are interested in learning more about Linked Data, how this can affect your business, website, please come! We will be hacking vocabularies on Saturday March 28 and Sunday March 29 from 10am to 5pm.
In addition, we will be hosting a session of where Drupal is with Semantic Web and going with RDFa. For all you developers and designers that work with CMS, you will defintely be interested to know that Drupal is the major CMS that has gotten on the Semantic Web boat. Come and discover all the new features that can be done with the new versions of Drupal. We will also have a hands-on session of using Drupal and Open Calais to create Linked Data! This session will take place most probably on the afternoon of Saturday March 28.
