Discover Engineering (eWeek) 2009 - Volunteers Needed
Please read the following information and volunteer to help inform our elementary, middle school, and high school students the advantages and benefits of engineering.
They need lots of help all over the metro area, so please check it out. I have been participating for several years now and it is very rewarding to see the excited faces of our future professionals.
Thanks,
C.W. Clark, P.E.

Volunteers,
Thank you for participating in the Discover Engineering (EWeek) program last year. It was a huge success and we couldn't have done it without you. We are excited to kick off our plans for 2009 and invite you to join us again as we encourage, motivate and inspire the students in our community. School visits will begin the week of February 16 and continue through the end of the school year.
We currently have over 60 schools signed up to participate this year and the number is still growing. We need LOTS of volunteers and team leads to ensure we don't have to turn anyone away like we did last year. If you have not yet registered to volunteer this year click here to sign up or if you want to get more information visit our website.
** You need to register again even if you registered previously and indicate if you will be a team lead. **
Volunteering only requires a minimal time commitment yet it can make a huge difference in a child's life. Training is provided so don't worry if you have never done this before. If you would like to lead a school visit or just want to find out more about how the process works, plan on attending one of the training sessions below. Additional information on other sessions will be sent out as it is available.
During the training we will present some sample hands-on activities for various age groups as well as let you try out the activities yourself. We will discuss tips for managing a classroom activity and communicating the activities’ relationship to real world engineering. We will cover important facts about engineering to include in a classroom presentation as well as talk about the responsibilities of a team lead and steps you will need to take to complete a school visit.
Please click here to RSVP if you will attend so we have enough materials for the training sessions.
