Startup gang what day & time?
To all those who were following the "Anybody interested in forming a tech startup" thread - let's work out a date, time, and location where we can meet, this time with enough notice for the word to get out. May I suggest that we try for a meeting on or after May 11.
John P. suggested Flightpath Coffeehouse (51st & Duval) as a venue; will that work for everybody?
Best day of the week?
Best time of day?
The hardest part of starting a revolution is getting it on everybody's calendar. :)

I'm interested -- I'm free
I'm interested -- I'm free Wednesday of that week. Week after I'm free Wednesday & Friday evenings.
I'm going to make a possibly radical suggestion: that we thing about making a 3-hour meeting in the lunch time framework. I think folks can find a way to take an hour off on each side of lunch hour, and it'd make it easier for folks (in town) to make it.
Suggestions?

Wednesday that week (5/13)
Wednesday that week (5/13) works great for me. Happy hour is best for me -- honestly, due to workload and an office in eastern time, it's a major ordeal to get away for even a half hour at lunch most days.
The following week, I'd be free on Friday (5/22), same limitation.
My pref. is a 6pm start time.
Others?
Either after work or a lunch
Either after work or a lunch hour works for me, except Wed. 5/13.

Hi. Wed 5/13 works for me.
Hi. Wed 5/13 works for me. I will not be able to make 3 hour lunches. With offices on the west coast - getting out of work before 6 is hard but I can always come in late.
Flightpath seems like a good place.
After 5/13, otherwise no
After 5/13, otherwise no Mon, Tue or Wed evenings for me. (After 5/13, I prefer to avoid scheduling this on Tuesdays, 2nd Fridays or 4th Thursdays.)

Unfortunately this May and
Unfortunately this May and June are shaping up to be very bad months for me to do anything. I've got a bunch of cross country travel planned (upper midwest to California to Florida) and my wife is training for the Danskin triathalon so I've got extra work around the house to do...
Anyway, it sounds like there is an excess of software people already, so it may be best if I just bow out in favor of others who might need the opportunity worse than I do anyway. Not to say I wouldn't be interested in participating at a later date if there was a place where I could contribute.
I'm interested and would
I'm interested and would like to attend the meeting. Will try to make time whenever.

While I would like to help,
While I would like to help, I cannot come up to Austin that day as I will be otherwise occupied. But I have a few suggestions that I hope you'll take under consideration.
* someone should draft an agenda (yes I know that brainstroming meetings are supposed to be unstructured)
* it might be useful to have some idea of the skill sets (not resumes) to be represented so as to have an idea of what you're all capable of doing [Note to Matt: Is there a web place like the scheudling one that you set up where skill sets and possible types of businesses people are interested in could be posted?)
* I haven't read one post or comment yet that speaks to the type of business [See above].
* "Are there any managers in the house?"
Also note my earlier comment on the "other" thread about sacrifices made by entrepreneurs.
There are many sacrifices ahead.
No, I am not well versed in IT and software, even though my Company's technologies both require sophisticated software to enable the systems. That doesn't negate my experiences as a technology entrepreneur and risk taker.
What do you think is the first sacrifice to be made (aside from the uncertainty of next week's paycheck)?
I also think that this could be a great place for Tech Ranch to play a role. These are just a few "random" thoughts.
This thread is very
This thread is very interesting and I am looking for a business side person for a Facebook/iPhone social game company... BUT I have the disadvantage of being an hour away from Austin (Elgin) without a car at the moment.... but I do have Skype.
If anyone is interested in this... seeing how explosive this thread is, it might be good to start something new or just email/Skype me.

Note to "Start-up" gang.
Note to "Start-up" gang. Above I suggested that a catalog of skill sets be established. Yesterday, Matt Scherer made me aware of TwtJob where you are focused to do your "resume" in 140 characters.
Can you do it? Might be a good shorthand way to have a list of who is in the group. How well can you position yourself in "tweet speak?"

Guys & Gals; we can use The Hills in Westlake??? I do not know where most of the hotshots live??? Just a suggestion, and now here comes all the snotty comments....but I guess I asked for it!

Can you please provide more information?
Where is it, and what kind of place is it?
I don't know Westlake Hills well enough to be acquainted with The Hills, and I'm not having any joy turning it up through Mapquest, Anywho, or Austin360.
Suggesting an alternate location is a perfectly reasonable thing to do, but people need to know how to find it.
Thanks,
