Federal - Test Analyst

The Tester provides expertise in the planning, constructing and execution of release tests. The Tester is responsible for applying business and functional knowledge to meet the team's overall test objectives. The Tester also develops an expertise in the testing principles, processes and methods as defined in the methodology framework and provides that expertise to other Testers. The Tester is also responsible for ensuring that the testing standards, guidelines, and testing methodology are applied as specified in testing approach, and that all testing results are easily accessible and understandable. The tester may perform defect coordination functions, ensuring that test defects are tracked to closure and that the defect repository is kept up-to-date with the current status. Also included in the defect coordination function is the creation and distribution of test status metrics as required by the project. The Tester may interact with the end customer, frequently interacts with internal customers and may be required to participate in pager/on-call support.
Key Responsibilities:
Create test models for release testing (plans, data and scripts) including the identification, collection and/or creation of test data
Lead coordination and execution of release testing as appropriate
Determine and meet time estimates and schedules for testing efforts
Define Release Test Plans and criteria for user acceptance including entry/exit criteria
Develop, update and maintain quality testing standards and procedures
Communicate effectively with customers and software vendors as appropriate
Assist in the planning, creation and control of the test environment(s)
Facilitate and/or participate in structured walk-through and peer reviews
Participate in the coordination and execution of release testing
Update and test release installation procedures
Participate in Lessons Learned as appropriate
Manage testing process questions and/or issues
Mentor other Testers on methodology framework testing processes and application knowledge as appropriate
Coordinate testing specific release activities
Determine and meet time estimates and schedules for testing efforts
Create test models for release testing (plans, data and scripts)
Travel expectations are up to 20% and driven by needs of the business.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
4 year Technical Degree in Engineering, Management Information Systems or Computer Science, or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Software testing experience
Development experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
