Business Response Engineer
We are currently looking for a Business Response Engineer. In this role, you will be working under product development to assist in the sale and support of BreakingPoint CTM products that are currently shipping. This is a highly visible role, as it will require someone with product development skills, allowing them to work closely with the development (software & hardware), sales, and support teams.
Location: Austin, Texas
Reporting to: Chief Technology Officer
Responsibilities:
• Assisting Sales and Support Engineers with customer issues
• Analyzing and reproducing high-priority issues
• Designing, developing and testing solutions to issues
• Deploying solutions through patch management or scheduled releases
• Designing and developing product enhancements that meet with business needs
Required Skills:
• Strong programming in multiple languages (C and Java in particular)
• Experience with large source projects with multiple contributors
• Experience in multitheaded/multi CPU based projects
• Strong working knowledge of Ethernet and TCP/IP networking
• Strong Linux or other *nix OS experience (kernel development, administration, etc.)
• Strong communications skills
• Must be able to work with team members as well as coordinate with other team leads
• Good working knowledge of at least one assembly language (x86/MIPS/PPC, etc.)
• Good working knowledge of leading network vendor switches/routers (Juniper, Cisco, etc.)
• Good working knowledge of application protocols and the OSI model
Preferred Skills:
• Understanding of XML
• Understanding of scripting languages (Ruby, TCL, Perl, Python, LUA, Shell scripting)
• Understanding of web development (HTML, JavaScript, Flash/Flex)
• Working knowledge of general PC based hardware (buses, memory, etc.)
• Other hardware knowledge a bonus (VHDL, Verilog, ASICs, PCB design, etc.)
• Experience in Testing/Quality Assurance a bonus
