Linux Support Engineer
Based in Houston, TX, Alert Logic is seeking to hire multiple Linux Support Engineers to provide remote technical support and maintenance of our network monitoring appliances.

Our on-demand platform utilizes software-as-a-service (SaaS) to enable our customers the easiest way to secure their networks and comply with policies and regulations.
Responsibilities:
•Perform systems administration duties including performance tuning, system monitoring, system configuration, patch management and disaster recovery of Linux based servers
•Provide remote technical support of network monitoring appliances
•Update and implement new solutions to agreed specifications
•Monitor central service’s performance and stability, including roll-out of planned updates
•Perform impact testing of new platform releases, including development of roll-out plans and risk analysis
•Interact with customers over the phone and via email
•3-5 years of systems administration experience in Linux and/or UNIX Solaris environments•Intermediate knowledge of network routing, firewall and tcpdump
•Hands on experience with VMware design, implementation and support
•Strong scripting experience (Perl, Shell, etc)
•Must be open to working flexible schedule including weekends and/or evenings
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desired Skills:
•Experience creating and maintaining packages for Debian is a big plus
•2+ years of networking experience including a strong understanding of TCP/IP
•Ability to follow process flows & network documentation
•Effective trouble-shooting skills for layer one issues & router configurations
•Understanding of IP routing, VLAN switching & IP Sub Netting
•Strong understanding of NAT, PAT & DHCP configurations, as well as DNS
•Experience with: SQL Server 2005+, Windows Server 2003+, networking and IIS
•BS in technical field with an engineering or computer science background preferred
