Jr. Linux Sys Admin / Release Coordinator
Alert Logic, based in the Galleria area of Houston, TX, is seeking to hire a Junior Systems Administrator / Release Coordinator for our growing DevOps team. The Junior Systems Administrator will be responsible for both Linux Systems Admin as well as coordinating the deployments of enterprise software to pre-production environments.
Responsibilities:
•Maintain accurate release plans including all the details necessary to support the smooth migration of software from Dev to QA to Staging to Production.
•Coordinate release communication and activities between Project Management, Release Management, Platform Team, Application Team, Support Team, Infrastructure Team, Product Management, Marketing, and the Change Approval Board.
•Accurately track approvals and change events for a rapidly changing release schedule by reconciling reports from multiple sources.
•Optimally schedule physical and virtual infrastructure resources according to competing project needs that will be in a state of flux.
•Perform Systems Administration on our Linux products.
•Believe in Issue ownership, from identification through resolution
•Communicate effectively with team members.
Required Skills:
•1+ year of Linux Systems Administration experience supporting software development.
•Scripting skills in bash and at least one other scripting language (Python, Perl, etc).
•Bachelor’s degree in CS, CE or other technical field.
•Outstanding accuracy and attention to detail.
•Excellent follow-through skills (chasing down repeat offender process dodgers)
•Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
•Understanding of various kinds of technical infrastructure: (Servers, databases, networks, switches, SAN’s, VM’s, etc.).
•Understanding of software development project lifecycles.
•Highly accurate; clear and concise written and verbal communication. Professional demeanor.
•Must be willing to be available outside of normal business hours for emergency change activities.
Preferred Skills:
•Release Management or Change Management Experience.
