Purpose of Position: As a member of the ITS Applications Contracts Team, will support the UT Austin community in software development projects by providing technical solutions for departments and colleges when budget and staffing constraints limit their internal resources. Apply campus security and accessibility standards to all projects.

Essential Functions: Plan, develop, migrate, and deploy custom web applications meeting all requirements with respect to quality, schedule, accessibility, performance, and security. Maintain web applications under contract, providing updates or small enhancements as required. Use formal project management practices, providing regular schedule, milestone, and implementation updates. Provide consistently excellent customer service to all customers. Gather requirements, size work efforts, perform appropriate system analysis, and document project plans and tasks, constructing necessary bids and statements of work. Enhance technical skills with respect to content management systems, applications, and database analysis, design, and integration.

Marginal/Incidental functions: Other related functions as assigned.

Qualifications: 

Required qualifications: Two years of systems design, analysis and programming or developing Web-based applications, including experience developing sites in or providing support for customers using a Content Management System (e.g., Drupal, Wordpress). Expertise with PHP and a least one of the following: Python, ColdFusion, Java, Apache. Experience with a relational database management system (Oracle, MySQL or similar). Basic working knowledge of the Unix shell. Demonstration of strong customer-facing and listening skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, in a team oriented environment. Demonstration of consistently meeting deadlines and following through with projects and assignments to completion. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Demonstrated understanding of the entire scope of complex, database-driven web applications. Demonstrated experience in the following programming languages: PHP, Python, Javascript, Java, ColdFusion, Natural. Demonstrated experience with the following frameworks: Codeignitor, Django. Demonstrated experience in the following databases: Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL. Two or more years of experience with the UNIX operating system in a Web publishing environment. Demonstrated creative problem solving skills. Demonstrated history in successful project management.

Working conditions: May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity Work performed on concurrent multiple projects under pressure of rigid deadlines or time limitations. May require occasional extended work hours or on-call obligation.

U.S. citizenship or permanent U.S. work authorization is required and the University will not support H1B applications for this position.
