Position Summary

Responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting multi-channel marketing database solutions involving business/consumer data exchange, data enrichment operations, demographic and analytic data integration, campaign execution, and data extract operations to meet client-specific strategic marketing goals.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing technical expertise in the areas of requirements elicitation & documentation, database modeling, database development, customer data integration (CDI), master data management (MDM), data quality process integration, process automation, performance reporting, internal/external systems integration, and system artifact management.


Using SQL Server, ETL, Data Quality, and process automation tools, this position designs, develops, and implements all aspects of marketing database solutions including: Campaign management and execution, customer data integration, master data management, data quality and validation, data extraction, process scheduling/automation, and internal/external systems integration.


Works with internal/external technical and non-technical contacts to elicit and document business and system requirements. Writes and maintains system specifications documents/diagrams.


Contributes to the development and implementation of software development methodologies, processes, and best practices.


Contributes to the evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of marketing database tools, technologies, and strategies including: DBMS, Campaign Management, ETL, Data Quality, Process Automation, and other software development tools.


Responsible for the ongoing operation, monitoring, and maintenance of marketing database solutions in a 24/7 production environment including after-hours on-call support.


Acts as a mentor to junior team members.


May act as IT lead/liaison on projects and work efforts, as assigned. Ensures work schedules and project plans are executed and track to defined milestones.

Supervisory Responsibility

Mentor and teach less experienced resources. May act as technical lead on assigned projects with responsibility to direct other team members.

Communication & Contacts Required

This position works closely with IT and marketing counterparts (e.g., Managers and Directors of Solutions and Strategy, Director of Product Marketing and team members with the Client Management and Operations divisions). This position collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and external clients/vendors. S/He will also work closely with the sales force to ensure that marketing database capabilities are understood and accurately and frequently communicated.

Qualifications: 

Qualifications

Education & Knowledge Required:

BS degree in computer science, engineering, marketing, or other related field required.

Experience / Skills / Abilities Required:

7+ years experience developing SQL Server applications including DDL, DML, stored procedures, triggers (MS/SQL 2008 preferred).


5+ years experience data modeling and SQL tuning.


3+ years developing SQL DTS/SSIS applications.


3+ years experience with one or more ETL/Data Quality tools such as DataStage, DataFlux, DataLever, Alteryx, Informatica, Trillium, ect. (DataLever preferred).


3+ years experience with process automation scripting or tools such as MS System Center (Opalis), SQL Agent, etc.


Experience with reporting applications such as Microsoft Reporting Services (preferred), Crystal Reports, etc.


Experience with direct marketing systems and concepts.


Demonstrated ability to balance multiple concurrent projects of varying priorities and shift focus from one project to another with minimal loss of productivity or quality.


Demonstrated proficiency in identifying project needs, estimating and prioritizing tasks, setting intermediate goals and milestones to accomplish the final outcome.
