Technical Engineer - Enterprise Sales

Department: Enterprise Sales Engineering
Reports to Vice President or Manager, Enterprise Solutions
The Technical Engineer is responsible for all technologies related to the sale of Blackbaud solutions. The Technical Engineer role would actively work with Product Management, Marketing and Sales to define technical requirements for new product offerings, build out those requirements for product demonstration, and enable a broader group of Sales Engineers to consistently represent the solution in the field.
Key responsibilities:
Define feature requirements for Blackbaud product demonstrations
Build and support master product demonstration environments, collaborate and launch new demo scripts with corresponding offers
Work closely with Solutions Engineers to clearly communicate and demonstrate the value of Blackbaud solutions
Apply specialized knowledge of product(s) within their respective sales division
Become a recognized expert with Blackbaud products with transferable skills to other products and or verticals within the sales organization
Install and configure the application at an advanced level
Support custom demonstration needs by building technical prototypes for specific sales cycles; Research 3rd party solutions where appropriate
Demonstrate solid technical skills on the platform OS and supported relational databases and the application(s)
Demonstrate good interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to address and independently resolve technical and application issues for clients and teams members
Achieve certification for specific product applications (if available)
Exhibit solid critical thinking skills and growing technical competencies
Areas of Involvement and Skills:
Provide support as needed to determine requirements and work directly with internal teams to deliver master product demonstrations per the offer road map
Configure advanced application requirements and modules
Interface with Product Management to transfer information and knowledge
Bachelor’s Degree is required; Masters Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or other advanced degree is preferred
3-6 years experience in IT industry is required
1-3 years of Sales Engineering experience is preferred but not required
Certified in Microsoft Server Technologies is preferred
Certified in Blackbaud and/or Convio applications and partner technologies is preferred
Experience in one or more of the following; ASP, .Net, SOA, JSP, HTML/CSS, XML, Unix, NT, Windows Server, Salesforce
Demonstrated experience in systems architecture
Demonstrated experience in creating and modifying relational Databases such as Oracle, and SQL Server
