Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Design)

The Company is an early stage company formed 4 years ago to develop and supply proprietary equipment for the fabrication of nanofibers. The company's initial equipment offerings have gain wide acceptance because the proprietary process & design of creating nanofibers allows unprecedented versatility and flexibility, with the potential to create unique nanofiber materials that cannot be produced using electrospinning technology. The automated production models will be coveted for their system level production cost reductions, inherent safety advantages and the ability to control the manufacturing process.
Early on The Company initially sold research equipment, consumable parts and service to research universities and companies to gain broad acceptance of the technology and to enable the development of unique nanofibers utilizing the Company’s proprietary method. Fully automated industrial scale equipment offerings are now being developed and marketed to satisfy commercial demands.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for machine product development. This position has responsibility for designing, building and documenting commercial equipment offerings based on the technology licenses and equipment prototype completed at major top tier Universities in Texas. These commercial offerings are based on the same fundamental designs which garnered the attention of researchers across the globe. The ideal candidate will be creative, flexible, results driven, an excellent engineer, passionate about quality and safety, conduct business with uncompromising integrity, set and attain ambitious goals, communicate completely with other functional groups, provide leadership, and execute to win.
Accomplishing these objectives will require building an engineering design base and discipline over a number of years with an unrelenting focus on effectively managing projects, providing sound fact based technical solutions to fulfill Customer and business expectations, and effectively communicating within the Company.
*A degree in mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering with knowledge of machine software and electrical engineering.
*Knowledge of CAD software SolidWorks a plus.
*7-15 years experience in the design and fabrication of commercial market capital equipment.
*Willingness to participate in the hands-on engineering work required to bring products to market.
*Management experience and team building success essential.
*Experience in a company start-up a plus.
*Knowledge of the nonwovens industry a plus.
*Chemical engineering knowledge or experience a plus.
*Aerodynamic effect knowledge a plus
*Excellent quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills.
*Excellent planning, organization and time management skills.
*Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with all levels of the organization and externally.
*Strong proficiency with MS Word Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook a plus.
*Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.
* Design and fabricate new machine products suitable for the commercial market meeting agreed upon design specifications on an agreed timeline.
*Create product offerings with skill and imagination that provide data based solutions enabled by novel and previously unrealizable technological advances.
*Hands on participation in the development of products in the most efficient and effective manner consistent with the demands of the business.
*Work with both in-house engineering and outsourcing services consistent with best business practices.
*Effectively interface with the inventors and technology researchers at the university and customers to fully understand the technology and uses of the products.
*Perform duties independently. Work closely with members of management. Communicate clearly and thoroughly on project status.
