Finding your strengths.
I am participating in the Tech Ranch Employee to Entrepreneur eight-week class which just started last week. Part of the homework for this week was to read StrengthsFinder 2.0 by Tom Rath, and to take the associated online test to assess my strengths. But let me back up a minute.
Testing the Theory of Six Degrees of Separation
I'm working with Dan Dillard over at Amplify Financial to get the event described below off the ground. It's something we both believe in and are excited about, but the economic climate is making it hard to line up the necessary funding. I'm reaching out to you, hoping that the hypothesis of 'six degrees of separation' can be proven, and that it will help us find the sponsors we need to make this a reality. Do you have contacts that might want to help with this grassroots event? Anyone at HEB, Whole Foods, Coca-Cola? The local media? Any other business that would like to support a community by sponsoring this event? If you know someone that might be interested, please comment below or contact me directly.
door64 Tech Fair Recap
The door64 Tech Fair drew almost 1000 attendees between 11 AM and 4 PM, visiting with 37 Central Texas high-tech companies, and attending talks about entrepreneurship, consulting, and marketing yourself in this job climate. The event ended with a lively and engaging panel discussion about The Engineer of 2020. Check out this post-event blog that recollects the day, and acknowledges who was involved to make it a success!
The guys at ReelSocialMedia covered the big event, and captured interviews with company folks, presenters, and attendees. They did an awesome job.
Tech Fair - Recap of the day...
Tech Fair: A few days after...
Well, last Thursday was the culmination of a couple months worth of preparation. The door64 Tech Fair hosted 37 Central Texas tech companies, three very stimulating (and quite popular) talks, one engaging panel discussion, and attracted just short of 1000 attendees throughout the day.
