Well I have been pushing my idea for this users group through some local vendor contacts I have as well as through areas of my Company and have had pretty good response.

I have had a decent sign up even before going live with the group and hope to get some more over the next few months.

I have already started getting emails from vendors around putting together sponsored meetings. So I think it should be able to take off.

Here is my spill on my site about what the group is about...

We are working to bring Austin area virtualization experts and users together. The more people we get the more useful this becomes.

We are not tied to any virtualization technology or company. We welcome all forms of virtualization enthusiast including, but not limited to Server Virtualization (VMware, Xen, Virtuozzo, Microsoft, etc.), SAN, Application Virtualization, Citrix, etc.

If you are deal with some form of the above virtualization technologies feel free to sign up at our site http://virtualaustin.org and our Linkedin group at http://www.linkedin.com/e/gis/69703/5E0C02159517

Feedback:
To the casual reader, the title of this posting "Virtual Austin" sounds more like a 3D world or online simulation.

I am actually a OS virtualization professional and I didn't get it ;) I just read it out of curiosity.

Interesting thought, did not look at it from that point. Thanks for the insight. I will remember that when trying to promote it.
