Austin city bus (CapMetro) GPS system?

Anyone have information on if/when the city bus system with have GPS tracking? They are sometimes early and such that it would be nice to have...

I've found some references to it being an approved project, but no details on when.

Cap Metro is basically useless for me because of where I live and work. There is no service to where I live (Pflugerville area), so I'd have to drive a few miles to get to the Tech Ridge Park & Ride... Unfortunately the 935 route from there to downtown doesn't transfer to the 401/402/424 route that goes out to 3M which is almost near where I work. I say almost because its probably 1/2 to 3/4 mile and I'd have to cross 2222 at River Place which is a 60MPH speed limit with no crosswalk or pedestrian signals and no sidewalk on the 3M side of the street. Oh... and the 935 to downtown and the 401/402/424 to downtown runs each take about as long as the drive time point to point, so even if I didn't have to drive to and from the park n' ride, walk between the bus routes in the middle and then walk to and from my office and 3M on the other end it would still more than double my already long commute time... Maybe there is a way to do it faster with two transfers, but Cap Metro's web site can't figure it out (I get errors telling me the trip isn't possible) and looking at their service map I can't see a good way either.

Anyone heard any more about the GPS system?

Wanted to pass along a useful iPhone/browser app for local bus schedules:
