Recommendations for women's business orgs in Austin?

Submitted by ctreada on Tue, 04/08/2008 - 6:16pm.

My wife and I are preparing to move back to Austin... she would like to get involved in some women's professional organizations. Any recommendations? Good/bad/ugly groups? She has a background in design & marketing if there are groups specific to those areas.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well, one I can think of immediately is Association for Women in Technology (AWT-Austin):

and also Young Women's Alliance

AWT sponsors a number of events around town; they have a newsletter that goes out to their members. I don't know much about the YWA. See our Links area for some more clubs. It's not a conclusive listing, but it's what I have so far.

Hope that helps!

Chris:

Yes, there are some groups in town.

The Austin chapter of the American Marketing Association is co-ed. But a good group of people and a helpful networking tool.

Austin Women in Communication. Good tool for networking within her field.

Both organizations provide helpful tools for professionals, but have different atmospheres. The best one for her would depend on her personality. I know people that belong to both.

I hope this helps!

I just found out about this group:

Don't know anything more about them, but it might be worth looking into.
