Introduction to Mac Game Development

What?
The Mac platform is undoubtedly getting much attention these days because of new products such as the MacBook Air and the iPhone. In this lecture, we will give a jump start overview of the development tools and API on the Macintosh platform, as well as the Objective-C language. We will also cover the Mac and iPhone game markets, and how they are a compelling for both startups and established companies.

Michael Agustin started in the game industry at Edge of Reality, where he worked as a programmer on Pitfall: The Lost Expedition, Sharktale: The Game, and Fear & Respect for the Playstation 2, GameCube and Xbox game consoles. At Three Rings Design, he was a designer and programmer for the online realtime strategy game Bang! Howdy. While at Apple, he has also worked on Mac OS X Leopard as part of their Platform Experience Group. Michael holds a Masters in Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon University. He earned his Bachelors in Computer Science with a minor in business from the University of Texas at Austin. He also serves as faculty for the Game & Simulation Programming program at DeVry University Austin.

Daniel Treiman received his B.S. with honors in computer science from Gustavus Adolphus College, while doing summer internships in human-computer interaction at Rice University. A self-taught
freelance programmer with several applications published, he also
leads development of an integrated dynamic signage application. Dan enjoys the craft of making software and believes that the act of making games should be as fun as playing them.
