The Austin Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 2nd Brain Party for Engineers on Thursday, May 8th from 6-9 pm at the Domain. The event is free to all area engineers - free food, drinks, and entertainment. An RSVP is required using the link above.

Basically your business card

Basically your business card is your admittance. I think that whatever your business card says needs to convince the "bouncer" that you're an engineery-type. Engineering manager should be included in that.

It's a fuzzy definition, so I'm sure there is leeway.

The RSVP site didn't work

The RSVP site didn't work for me last night, so I contacted the event's host. Responses from the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce indicate that registration is required, but may be done at the event.

I interpret "engineer" to mean anyone who applies science to the benefit of people, so I would include managers and many others. I think GACC uses a similar definition.

What I mean is that the invite is extended to those who work in typical engineering roles, versus VP's and upper management, or those in HR & recruiting, etc. In other words, they're targeting the worker bees.

Which definition of

Which definition of "engineer". Licensed professional engineers, people with engineering degrees or people with "engineer" titles?

By the first two definitions, I am not a "real" engineer, but my title at work is "Software Engineer".
