Job description:

We are seeking qualified candidates for the development of micro-architecture and RTL implementation of the L2 cache for Freescale’s next generation Power™ Architecture core.

Your responsibilities for this position will include:

- Developing the L2 cache micro-architecture and implementing the design in RTL
- Working with the performance modeling team to ensure the micro-architecture meets the performance targets
- Working with the integration and circuit teams to ensure the micro-architecture meets frequency, power, and area targets
- Working with the verification team to develop test plans and verification methodologies to ensure the micro-architecture meets all functional requirements
- Working with other members of the micro-architecture team to meet overall performance and power requirements

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position you must have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent, and more than 5 years of relevant experience including:

- Excellent working knowledge of L2 micro-architecture. Prior experience with Power™ architecture preferred
- Excellent working knowledge of Power™ architecture memory ordering rules, barriers, and atomic operations is strongly desirable
- Excellent working knowledge of cache coherency and coherent interconnects
- Prior experience with high-performance low-power processor design is strongly desirable
- Good working knowledge of microprocessor architecture, micro-architecture, and hardware design
- Hands-on experience with Register Transfer Level (RTL) implementation
- In-depth experience with Verilog and/or SystemVerilog
- Strong background in physical synthesis, timing analysis/closure, and chip floorplanning
- Strong background in low power design, implementation, and power analysis
- Strong understanding of performance modeling
- Good verbal and presentation skills
