Global Game Jam - anyone interested?

http://globalgamejam.org

Hi,

I was wondering if any Door64 members might be interested in being involved with this. It's a different way of networking, but I can tell you first-hand that making a game collaboratively is a very good way to meet and get to know people personally (even if they are in China, Germany, or Sweden). It could also be a great way for people who haven't made a game before to get to try their hand at it. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any Austin groups to contact (i.e. Programming, Art, Project Management, Design, or Gamedev related groups)? I'm already talking to ACC, the IGDA, and the Austin Python Users Group.

From the site: "Anyone can participate in a Game Jam, experienced professionals, Students and wannabes. You do not have to form teams to participate, teams will be formed at each of the local Jams."

So this would be a good way for people interested in the industry to show off their skills to recruiters, and for pros that are out of work to do something in their industry, possibly find work or a team, and possibly mentor others.

Thanks and hope there is interest!
Michael
