As people around here may know, I've been sort of a phone-Luddite for the past several years, sticking with my trusty old Motorola Star Tac that I've had since 2001. Actually my wife got this new phone for for me. Its a Nokia something or other, pretty plain-jane being one of the "free" phones. I haven't really played with it much other than basic calls and the MP3 player functionality which works pretty good. It has a Micro-SD slot which makes it easy to load music into it. Supposedly it has internet capability and can send IMs and text messages and stuff.

Earlier this year I upgraded from my original Craiglist-purchased Blackberry 7290 to a Craigslist-purchased Blackberry Pearl. I say this because of all the "new & improved" technology that went into the Pearl, my #1 advantage of the Pearl is that it's thinner. I just use it to make calls, and see my calendar.

Now that you've had it for a day or so, what's the consensus? Miss the Star Tac yet?

The MP3 capabilities of the new phone are nice... other than that, the general user interface of the old Star Tac is simpler and more straight forward.
