This meeting marks Agile Austin’s one year anniversary. We have been fortunate to have grown together in a thriving community of local agile professionals. We have had local and nationally recognized speakers present on technical as well as management issues, workshops on Agile best practices, a successful open space conference, joint sessions with other local user groups, promotions of fantastic external Agile trainings and events, giveaways of tools and books, subgroup meetings for all sorts of Agile interests and roles, brand name sponsorships, and much, much more. We now see the Agile community in Austin becoming a role model group for other Agile organizations around the country. Thanks to all the members and attendees in our community to making our mission a reality:

Agile Austin’s mission is to promote agile software development concepts such as those set forth in the Agile Manifesto (agilemanifesto.org), to create a public forum for the exchange of practice information, and to create opportunities for the professional development of members.

This milestone meeting opportunity will step back to inspect and adapt how we want to continue to grow our Agile community to even greater value to all of our members and colleagues. We are changing the format of this particular meeting to have an open discussion, without a typical presentation.

Boris Portman, the 2007-2008 Program Chair, will facilitate the following:

• Panel of Agile2008 attendees reviewing the Agile2008 conference August 4-8, 2008
• The state of Agile in the industry as a whole, based on VersionOne’s survey results presented at Agile2008
• Open discussion on the state of Agile in Austin
• Retrospective on Agile Austin as an organization (whiteboard Start, Stop, Continue feedback from everyone)
• Fishbowl format on any topics we choose to discuss
