Test Automation: The Big Picture
Why should we automate testing?
What types of automations are there?
How do we automate testing?
Where do we go from here?
This session, drawing on Agile and Lean Principles, gives advice and answers to these question. Both ideas and real tools and code are presented to demonstrate the theory and practice. Attendants should come away with a new appreciation for what Test Automation can offer their own organization, and some ideas of where to start.
John D. Heintz is husband, father, and owner of Gist Labs. After studying electrons in college John chose software as a career, and hasn't looked back. John can transition between precise abstractions and hacking code; seeing the big picture while taking appropriate shortcuts today.
Some mantras John codes by include: “simple, not easy” and “use, then reuse”.
In 12 years of professional work John has built many component and distributed systems, led agile teams, and mentored/trained on many technologies. John has deep experience with high-leverage technologies like Spring, JPA, Ruby, AOP, AJAX, REST/HTTP, and SOA systems.
