Help on skill sets
You may be asking yourself, "So what are these skill sets?"
Most job boards have you post a resume / CV. We're all used to doing that. However, this is inadequate for both job seekers and employers. Why? Well, what if your background is varied -- can the reader clearly understand what type of job you're looking for? If a single skill is spread across many jobs, can the reader easily piece together the whole picture to quickly understand your level of expertise? The reader is primarily interested in what you know and how you can benefit the organization. Indexing resumes by company chronologically doesn't effectively convey what you know, but rather where you've worked.
So my solution is skill sets. Imagine reorganizing your resume by indexing what you know rather than where you've worked. Each skill set states the following:
- Skill set title: A summarizing one-liner
- Category: General categorization of the skill set
- Tags: List of keywords which grab the reader's attention about your expertise in this skill
- Background information: Details about your expertise relating to this skill
- Education: Highest degree attained to date
- Availability: When are you available to work relating to this skill set?
- Capacity: What is your desired role?
That's it. Now someone can easily see what you know, and how & when you are available to work using this skill. A door64 member can create as many of these skill sets as deemed necessary. Hiring managers, recruiters, and entrepreneurs can view the skill sets, and contact you to discuss opportunities for employment or collaboration.
Note that any skill set entered does NOT reveal the author's identity (unless explicitly written into the skill set by the author). Thus, when creating skill sets, you will remain anonymous. Anyone contacting you about the skill set will do so via door64, and you will receive an email containing the member's message and a return email address for correspondence. At that point, if you reply via email, your email address will be known and you'll no longer be anonymous.
